The Quelccaya Glacier tour from Cusco is a full-day high-altitude adventure (17 hours) that departs around 3:00–3:30 AM, takes you through the Andean village of Phinaya, and includes trekking to the world’s largest tropical glacier at over 5,200 meters, with stops at Sibinacocha Lagoon before returning to Cusco around 7:30–8:30 PM.

Day 01: Cusco - Quelccaya Glacier - Cusco
03:00–03:30 AM – Hotel pick-up in Cusco’s historic center.
03:30 AM – Departure south toward the Vilcanota Mountain Range.
07:30–08:30 AM – Arrival at Phinaya village (4,700 m). Enjoy a traditional Andean breakfast.
08:15–09:30 AM – Continue by vehicle toward the glacier base.
09:30 AM – Begin trek (2–3 hours, moderate to challenging due to altitude).
12:00 PM – Reach the Quelccaya Glacier front (5,200 m). Explore towering ice walls, turquoise lagoons, and possibly ice caves. Guides explain its importance in climate studies.
01:30 PM – Descent and lunch (buffet or box lunch).
11:30 AM–01:00 PM (optional stop) – Visit Laguna Sibinacocha, one of the largest high-altitude lakes in the Andes.
03:30 PM – Begin return journey.
07:30–08:30 PM – Arrival back in Cusco’s Plaza de Armas area.
