A quiet, little-known colored mountain with sharp, jagged ridges in pink, purple, ochre and green that resemble a woven Andean poncho. The scenery is stunning, there are very few visitors, and on the way back the tour stops at the Raqchi archaeological site.
The tour leaves Cusco early in the morning and drives about 4 hours toward the Canas province, via Sicuani and Layo. Along the way, the group stops for breakfast. You reach the trailhead at about 4,600 meters and then walk about 1.5 km uphill to the viewpoint, at about 4,790 meters. The climb is moderate but becomes steeper toward the end, and the difficulty comes mainly from the altitude. At the top you see the colorful poncho-like ridges, whose colors come from oxidized minerals, with free time for photos. After lunch, the group descends and drives back to Cusco, stopping on the way at the Raqchi archaeological site.
