A halfday ATV adventure in the Sacred Valley, with a visit to the Maras salt mines and a choice between two destinations: the circular terraces of Moray or Huaypo Lagoon.
The tour leaves Cusco for the Maras area, where you receive your equipment and ATV. You drive the ATV yourself, about 40 minutes each way, along dirt tracks through fields and open valley scenery. You choose one of two routes: – Moray route: ride to the circular terraces of Moray, built in Inca times and used as an agricultural laboratory, and walk among them. – Huaypo Lagoon route: ride to the lagoon and enjoy the view. Both routes also include a visit to the Maras salt mines, with hundreds of salt pools. You then return to Cusco, and the tour ends about two streets from the main square. There are two departures a day.
Trip details:
- Duration: half day, about 6 hours
- ATV ride: about 40 minutes each way
- Times: 7:00 AM–1:00 PM or 1:00 PM–7:00 PM
- Difficulty: easy, no previous riding experience required
- Travelers choose who rides with them on each ATV
Day 1: Cusco → Maras → Moray
- 7:00 AM or 1:00 PM – Hotel pickup in Cusco
- Drive to the Maras area
- Briefing and ATV ride (about 40 minutes) to Moray or Huaypo Lagoon
- Visit to the Maras salt mines
- Return to Cusco (1:00 PM or 7:00 PM)
